Inhale. Exhale. Transcend: Aromatherapy, Mother Nature’s Magically Symphony.

Hi there! I am Barbara Lina Lei; as a Certified Aromatherapist (common initials “C.A.”), Essential Oils are my main tool. There is a wealth of knowledge to be gained about essential oils, their properties and therapeutic uses in our daily life. My aim is to bring simple and easy-to-follow practices in every holistic health approach to a sustainable long term beneficial practice for all.

So… How did I become a Certified Aromatherapist? It all started with a stressed-induced health crisis in the year 2013, I was in and out of Changi General Hospital that seismically changed my life! Fast forward, and now, here I am! Simply, my journey towards being a Holistic Practitioner has transformed the life of my family’s too. It is truly amazing how we have witnessed our body’s capability to cope with an almost drug free life, focusing on ‘Let Foods Be Thy Medicine’, complementary therapies, and the process in minimizing the use of harsh chemicals within our household is quite phenomenal. Next came getting my ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Aromatherapy with a MERIT award in 2017. Our experiential learning towards holistic living and aromatherapy practice inspired me to go beyond, I fell in love with coaching others on how to work with essential oils and more. If you let me… I’ll be excited to see you in person at my workshops!

My holistic health obsession started in December 2013 when I was in a very bad health condition that I’ve since recovered from naturally without drugs. I have learned about so many complementary therapies from Naturopathy to Aromatherapy. I have explored aplenty of exercise, massage therapy, ‘Let Food Be Thy Medicine’ focusing on herbs and spices, relaxation and breathing techniques just to get me back in better health well good enough to last for my kids!! Happily we have been drug -free for the longest time ever, it is a blessing to be able to witness the power of natural healing. 😉

What is holistic living? In medicine, it means treating the whole person (physically, mentally, emotionally), rather than just taking care of outward symptoms. Holistic living simply means knowing when it is appropriate to reach for natural remedies and complementary medicines to tackle a common ailment, while knowing when it is appropriate to consult the medical professionals for a more serious condition.

Essential oils used for healing purposes is often called aromatherapy; a holistic treatment seeking to improve physical, mental and emotional health. There’s rarely ever the need to use more than 2% in a blend and topically never apply Essential Oils directly to the skin except for Lavender true and Tea Tree. Essential oils are very concentrated and very powerful, they do not mix with water; they blend exceptionally well with carrier oils and unscented emulsions. Essential Oils are natural compounds but this doesn’t mean that they are harmless. Used correctly they can offer amazing therapeutic effects that will enhance life but misused they can cause severe damages.

Essential Oils should never ever be used internally!

Essential oils are the key ingredient in any blend customized to give the best possible physical and therapeutic effect. Blending essential oils is about synergy, getting the compatibles to work together. The theory behind blending is that the whole is more powerful than the individuals. By blending 3 or more essential oils that have the same or very similar therapeutic properties, a synergy blend is created more powerful than the individual oils on their own. Essential oils can be used at home safely as long as good usage guidelines are observed. When in doubt, ask a Certified Aromatherapist or a preferred healthcare professional.

The interest in aromatherapy grew in the late 20th century as a form of complementary medicine. Remember essential oils are not medicines and should never be used as a replacement for conventional medicine. All information herewith are to be viewed as a general guidance only and not a substitute for medical advice.
